The Camel and the Needle
Sorry, Izzy but you lost me at “I have the fight of my life on my hands” because if this is the fight of your life then you have had a charmed existence with no appreciation of what “real” battles many people face as they go about their lives.
I support your right to say what you think about whatever you want and if that involves posting verses on twitter then so be it.
I don’t hold your particular view of the Christian faith, especially around hell and homosexuality, but good on you for having the courage of your convictions and hey, it would be a boring old world if we were all the same aye?
I unreservedly and unequivocally support your right to freedom of speech and expression. I support your right to go to court and fight for what you believe to be unfair dismissal. You have your opinion. Rugby Australia has theirs. Fair enough. Sort it out.
However, I personally find it obnoxious in the extreme and profoundly arrogant that you are asking for three million dollars from the general public so they can fund your “crusade”. How removed from reality must you be to even consider asking for funds? Can I suggest that you start figuring out how to thread a camel through a needle!
I find it repugnant that you are attempting to claim that the Christian faith (my faith) is being attacked in this case and that somehow by funding your cause people are sticking up for God or for freedom.
What utter nonsense. God, the scriptures and faith are not under attack, at least not in your country. God is not in the dock. You are!
You are free to say whatever you wish about your faith. You have done so. Good on you.
It is at odds with your employer and they have decided to remove you. Good on them. That’s their business.
But for you now to expect others to fund your fight and give you money, especially on a funding page where there is genuine suffering and desperate need, seems to me to be morally reprehensible.
There is an old saying, “the love of money is the root of all evil”, and a quick look around the world will show that it still rings true today and Jesus himself said, “No one can serve two masters, you can’t serve God and money”.
It’s all very well someone telling others how they should live but might be a good idea to remove planks from eyes first?
Looking forward to finding out how you’re going to get that camel through that needle Izzy.
